During an exclusive event held at the Norwegian Embassy in Stockholm, the exhibition A Colour Composition – New Norwegian Design was to present some of today’s leading examples of Norwegian design and arts & crafts to the international press.
The Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair is considered one of the most important arenas for Scandinavian furniture design in all of Europe. So, Stockholm was a natural choice when the newly established Samarbeidsrådet for møbel og interiør (SMI) was to hold its first joint event. As a collaborative partner in the project, the Norwegian Embassy made its residence available for the exhibition. The fair was held from 7-11 February, while the Norwegian exhibition at the embassy was open on 8 February for an exclusive press event and for visitors on Thursday 9 February and Friday 10 February until 12 pm. Norwegian design news
The exhibition presented the latest works from such designers as Andreas Engesvik, Daniel Rybakken, Andersson & Voll, Runa Klock, Thomas Jenkins and Linda Svedal Walsøe. The works were carefully selected by the reputable curating duo of Kråkvik & D’Orazio and presented in various group and colour compositions, hence the name A Colour Composition. The Embassy building from the early 1950s was designed by Norwegian architect Knut Knutsen and served as a unique architectural frame for the exhibition.
The goal of the event was to strengthen the position of Norwegian design in the international market and to prompt more people to choose Norwegian design products. For this reason, the exhibition is aimed primarily at the international press, bloggers, interior designers and dealers.
The event was initiated by Samarbeidsrådet for møbel og interiør (SMI) in collaboration with the Norwegian Design and Architecture Centre (DOGA), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Innovation Norway, Norsk Industri, Norwegian Crafts, Polyflor and the Oslo Design Fair.

Samarbeidsrådet for møbel og interiør (SMI)
Established in 2016, this network of designers, manufacturers, organisations and educational institutions works together to promote Norwegian furniture and interior design, both nationally and internationally. SMI aims to create more brand producers with high growth potential in Norway, increase total value creation and put Norwegian designers and brand producers on the map through the export of sustainable design products and solutions.
